Akretion announces the availability of the new-generation PrestaShop-OpenERP connector for OpenERP v7

Akretion announces the immediate and worldwide availability of the new-generation PrestaShop-OpenERP connector for OpenERP version 7.0. PrestaShop is an Open Source e-commerce software written in PHP that provides an easy-to-use and high-performance solution to set up an online shop.OpenERP is an Open Source ERP software written in Python that provides an extended functional coverage : Customer Relationship Management (CRM), sales and purchase administration, stock management, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), accounting, etc. PrestaShop and OpenERP have a lot in common : modern web interfaces, great user interfaces focused on the ease of use, lightweight and flexible software architectures.

In February 2012, Akretion and Camptocamp (an OpenERP integrator with headquarters in Lausanne) announced the first release of the PrestaShop-OpenERP connector for OpenERP 6.1. In January 2013, Camptocamp started a crowd-funding campaign to develop a new-generation synchronisation framework for OpenERP. This new synchronisation framework, called “openerp connector”, was published on November 6th 2013 by Camptocamp under the AGPL licence (the licence used by OpenERP).

Akretion has ported the OpenERP-PrestaShop connector to this new synchronisation framework. Upgrading to this new release will bring you the following benefits :

a new queuing system for the transmission of data between OpenERP and PrestaShop which brings better scalability and better performances : the OpenERP-PrestaShop connector is now able to handle very large catalogs of products,
real-time synchronisation of the product catalog between OpenERP and PrestaShop,
better control of the synchronisation process : the user has visibility on the status of the synchronisation queue.

For the online vendors that sell on multiple platforms (for example, those that sell on their own PrestaShop boutique and also on Amazon and/or eBay), this new release allows to have different product descriptions and/or images on each platform, which was not possible before.

This new version of the OpenERP-PrestaShop connector is compatible with OpenERP version 7 and PrestaShop 1.5. It supports :

synchronisation of the product catalog from OpenERP to PrestaShop or from PrestaShop to OpenERP,
import of orders from PrestaShop to OpenERP,
export of the status of orders from OpenERP to PrestaShop,
export of stock levels from OpenERP to PrestaShop,
export of pricelists from OpenERP to PrestaShop.

The OpenERP-PrestaShop connector is available on Launchpad : https://launchpad.net/prestashoperpconnect. It is published as an OpenSource software under the AGPL licence. This new release of the connector is already used in production by a French PrestaShop-based online boutique who deployed OpenERP v7 this year.

For online vendors that have a PrestaShop boutique, deploying OpenERP to manage their backoffice will allow them to :

manage one or multiple warehouses with full traceability,
automate the logistics processes as much as possible, including the generation of the delivery labels (Colissimo, TNT, Mondial Relay, GLS, ...),
manage the purchase process with customizable procurement rules,
manage the manufacturing process (if they have a production activity) : automatic generation of manufacturing orders, multi-level bill-of-materials, traceability of the raw materials,
manage the accounting. This is probably the killer-feature of OpenERP for online vendors : OpenERP will allow them to industrialize the accounting process : automate the generation of the sale and purchase accounting journals, automate the import of bank statements (from their bank(s), from Paypal, from Ogone, etc…), automate the reconciliation of invoices and payments, etc…

Sébastien Beau, e-commerce expert at Akretion, will make a presentation of the new OpenERP-PrestaShop connector at the PrestaShop Barcamp, the main event of the PrestaShop community, that will take place at the Espace Tapis Rouge in Paris on November 19th 2013.
